New freshmen:
Register for a LEADS class
All new students are invited to take CLAS 2600 during their first semester. This one-credit-hour course complements any major. Take advantage of the opportunity to explore your potential, map out your personalized professional development plan, and engage in creative problem solving. You will have the option to take additional LEADS courses in future semesters and, if you wish, you may earn a certificate in Leadership, Innovation, Technology, and Diversity through LEADS.
Join the SUCCESS Learning Community, partnered with LEADS
Learning communities provide a unique opportunity to be part of a small, supportive community during your first year at UNC Charlotte. As an added bonus, students who participate in learning communities generally have higher grade point averages and are more likely to graduate on time as compared to students who do not participate in learning communities.
As a student in the SUCCESS Learning Community, you will take common classes with your cohort and have access to special resources and programming to help you grow as a creative, innovative, and engaged leader.
Experience an Outdoor Orientation to LEADS
LEADS Outdoor is a program that prepares new students for success through a 5-day, 4-night backpacking and rock climbing adventure in the North Carolina mountains. Join other LEADS students for an unforgettable team-building and leadership experience. This trip will be led by the Venture Outdoor Leadership program at UNC Charlotte. No previous experience with backpacking or rock climbing is required. Program cost is $245, which includes all food, gear, rentals, and transportation. Scholarships to cover program costs may be available through LEADS. Dates for the 2020 trip will be released soon.
